Young Men’s Empowerment Day at Hempstead MBK Draws News12 Coverage.

The spirit of empowerment was alive and undeniable as News12 stopped by our Young Men’s Empowerment Day at Hempstead High School. The energy in the room? Electric. From the moment our young men arrived to the final round of applause, the day was filled with inspiration, connection, and purpose.

Hosted by Hempstead MBK (My Brother’s Keeper), this event was more than a gathering — it was a celebration of leadership, resilience, and potential. Students were uplifted by powerful guest speakers, meaningful conversations, and a shared belief in the greatness that lies within each of them.

“This is what we do every day,” said a Hempstead MBK team member. “When our young men are seen, heard, and supported — they rise.”

About Hempstead MBK’s Young Men’s Empowerment Program:

The Youth Men’s Empowerment Program is a vital initiative housed at Hempstead High School, with a special focus on uplifting boys and young men of color. The goal? To equip them with authentic leadership opportunities, real-world experiences, and platforms to design and lead service projects that make a difference in their schools and communities.

Through the Young Men’s Empowerment League, students in grades 9–12 are guided in their journey toward becoming socially responsible, confident, and resilient individuals. The program fosters a safe, encouraging environment that values self-expression, respect, and mutual growth — all of which translate into stronger academic and personal outcomes.

Hempstead MBK is proud to stand beside the next generation of leaders, dreamers, and changemakers. Young Men’s Empowerment Day is just the beginning — and with every step forward, the future looks brighter than ever.
