Hempstead MBK J.A.M.S. Program at Joseph A. McNeil Elementary School

The Hempstead My Brother’s Keeper J.A.M.S. (Joseph A. McNeil School) program is dedicated to providing elementary students, particularly boys of color, with enriching opportunities that foster a strong interest in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects. The program also aims to enhance reading and comprehension abilities through a variety of programs and partnerships.

Hempstead MBK J.A.M.S. Programming:
Ridgewood Bank Financial Literacy: Interactive financial literacy sessions during the school day.
Saturday Programming: Includes literacy activities, financial literacy workshops, restorative practices, and fitness sessions.

SUNY Old Westbury Partnership:
Collaborating with the Teacher Opportunity Corps (TOC) to bring diverse, empowered educators to the program. The TOC, funded by a New York State Education Department grant and supported by the federal My Brother’s Keeper initiative, seeks to educate and inspire 21st-century students.

What age group is eligible to participate in the Hempstead MBK J.A.M.S. program?
